Our Mission
. . . Believing we are called God, sent by the Lord Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the Tri-Presbytery New Church Development Commission seeks to discover, encourage, support, and develop expressions of church in the Reformed Tradition, for the purposes of strengthening Christ’s church and spreading the gospel to all people . . .
The Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) has a long-standing practice of supporting and encouraging the development of new congregations. In fact, many of our historic congregations were started by a Sunday School class from another church or a team of Presbyterians who took note of the Spirit’s calling to plant a new congregation that welcomed the gifts of new and long-time Christians in a different place and context. Today, this basic Christian tradition continues.
We are committed to grow in our faith and experience of God as we partner to grow Christ’s Church — both deep and wide. Together, we have learned that new churches strengthen and bless the ministry of existing churches and that long-time congregations bless the growth and vitality of new ones. In these partnerships, we receive the gift of vitality by living out Christ’s Great Commission and the joy of discipleship that comes whenever diverse and creative people partner with God in doing a new thing together.
